Overview
A peptic ulcer is a sore that forms in the lining of the stomach or the beginning of the small intestines, 叫做十二指肠. 溃疡 are common, affecting an estimated 25 million Americans.
Contrary to popular belief, ulcers are not due to stress and diet. A bacterial infection brought on by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori (H. 螺杆菌) is the cause of the majority of all stomach ulcers. Prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or pain relievers such as aspirin, 布洛芬和萘普生钠, which affect the stomach's ability to protect itself from acidic stomach juices, 也可能导致溃疡.

If you have a peptic ulcer, you may only experience very mild 症状 or none at all. However, abdominal discomfort is the most common symptom associated with ulcers. 其他症状包括:

Your doctor may first perform an upper gastrointestinal (GI) series and endoscopy to check for ulcers.
